The Danbury Township Board of Trustees held the Organizational Meeting December 29, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Danbury Township Hall, 5972 E. Port Clinton Eastern Road, Marblehead, Ohio 43440. Visitors attending were Rita Mahler and Lisa Bruno.
The pledge of allegiance was recited.
Fiscal Officer Shelley J. Seamon called the meeting to order, with Fiscal Officer Shelley J. Seamon, Trustees Dianne M. Rozak, Charles B. Scott, and David M. Hirt present.
Mrs. Seamon convened the organizational portion of the meeting and called for nominations for President of the Board for 2012.
Ms. Rozak nominated Trustee Charles B. Scott. A brief discussion occurred and Mr. Scott accepted the position of President. Mr. Hirt seconded the motion. All voted yes. Motion carried.
Following Mr. Scott’s acceptance, President Charles Scott called for nominations for Vice President of the Board for 2012. Ms. Rozak nominated Trustee David M. Hirt. A brief discussion occurred and Mr. Hirt accepted the position of Vice President. Mr. Scott seconded the motion. All voted yes. Motion carried. Set Date & Time of Regular Meetings The Trustees discussed and agreed that regular meetings would remain on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, beginning at 7:00p.m. at the Danbury Township Hall at 5972 E. Port Clinton Eastern Road, Marblehead, Ohio 43440. Trustee Pay Method A brief discussion regarding the 2012 pay method for the Trustees occurred. Mr. Hirt moved that the Trustees receive a monthly salary as opposed to per diem. Ms. Rozak seconded the motion. All voted yes. Motion carried. Committee Assignments The Trustees discussed and agreed that the committee assignments would remain same. Mr. Scott – Roads, Buildings, & Grounds, Mr. Hirt - Police & Fire; Dianne M. Rozak - Safety & Zoning
Regional Planning Commission Appointments Mr. Scott expressed interest in remaining as the RPC representative. Mr. Scott said that Vito Kaminskas also expressed interest to remain as the RPC alternate. The matter was discussed and resulted as such; Ms. Rozak moved to reappoint Charles Scott as the Ottawa County Regional Planning Commission representative and to reappoint Vito Kaminskas as the alternate. Mr. Hirt seconded the motion. All voted yes. Motion carried. 2012 Legal Counsel Regarding legal counsel, the Trustees discussed and agreed that County Prosecutor Mark Mulligan would remain as the Township legal counsel in 2012.
Regarding legal counsel for the zoning boards, the matter was discussed and resulted as such: Mr. Scott moved to reappoint John Coppeler of Flynn, Py, & Kruse as well as Jeffrey Stopar of Eastman & Smith as legal counsel for the BZA and ZC boards. Mr. Hirt seconded the motion. All vote yes. Motion carried.
Fire Prevention Officer Mr. Hirt said the Roland Stucky agreed to serve as Fire Prevention Officer for the Township in 2012. Mr. Hirt then moved to reappoint Roland Stucky as Fire Prevention Officer. Ms. Rozak seconded the motion. All voted yes. Motion carried.
Annual Meeting The Trustees discussed briefly when to schedule the annual meeting with the LVFD as well as the MVFD. No decision occurred and discussion was tabled.
Other Organizational Business Because of the change in the presidency, Ms. Rozak said she would like to continue to produce the Township newsletters, bi-weekly overviews and other articles she had provided in the past. The Trustees discussed and agreed Ms. Rozak would continue handling the above mention publications for the Township. Newspapers will be informed that Mr. Scott is the new contact for the Township. Mrs. Seamon will prepare meeting agendas. Mrs. Seamon will notify Rita Mahler, Lisa Bruno, and Jodi Kopanski per their request when special meeting are scheduled and as well as notify the local newspapers. Ms. Rozak moved to adjourn the organizational portion of the meeting to discuss items for the 2012 budget at 7:15 p.m. Mr. Hirt seconded the motion. All voted yes. Motion carried
A brief discussion regarding the renovation of the Township Hall, the extension of Meadowbrook, equipment for the Road Department, a cruiser for the Police Department, the purchase of a Geographical Information System as well as the cost of the repairs for the Keeper’s House occurred.
The discussion of the budget ended at 8:00 p.m. and the budget session was adjourned.
